On December 1, the UCLA Art|Global Health Center presented “48
Hours to Action,” a dynamic evening of entertainment to
observe World AIDS Day, a time to bring global awareness to HIV/AIDS.
“48 Hours to Action” rallied artists from the UCLA
campus to generate art related to a theme revealed just 48 Hours
before the performance. The theme this year No Cure Does Not Equal
No Solution.
The 14 students responded in stunning form, coming up with beautiful
dances, engaging monologues, lovely paintings and photographs,
and awe-inspiring songs or poems.
Dance Marathon, a student run organization that raises money
for AIDS by producing a 26 hours dance, got everyone out of their
seats by teaching them some funky moves.
The show featured the fantastic musical group The Elavaters and
singer Adam Stern. The night was hosted by renowned spoken word
artist Pat Payne.
The entire evening had everyone thinking, remembering, moving,
hoping, and on top of it all, having a seriously good time.

Dancers Allison Gray, Kate Lewis and Christopher Albrecht
shined in a beautiful dance piece performed in silence and choreographed
by student artist/activist Sophia Stoller.

Spoken word artist Sahra Nguyen had the audience eating
out of the palm of her hand during her piece.

Dance Marathon had the entire audience on their feet.

UCLA alumnus Adam Stern rocked the house.

The Elevaters closed the show in style leaving the audience inspired.
